Action Tips for Protecting Your Ears

Hearing is important in the lives of many people. Like many people, you probably want to hear your children's voices, a favorite music act, movies, and other sounds for as long as your ears are able to. However, you may never have learned to adequately care for your ears or your hearing. With these three tips, caring for your ears and maintaining your hearing is possible.

1. Wear Earplugs

An easy technique to avoid ear damage is getting well-fitting earplugs. Wearing these pieces when you expect a lot of loud noise will shield the eardrum from too much trauma. Many people go to loud concerts and experience ringing ears. Repeated actions like that, over time, could lead to real damage. Carry a few plugs around, and pop them in when the environment gets to be too much in terms of volume.

2. Avoid Small Listening Buds

Smartphones often come with listening buds that go right into your ears. These buds are fun to use because they're not overwhelming in size nor do they affect hairstyles. They can be pulled off right away and aren't bulky to carry around. However, these buds could be terrible for your hearing and ears.

When your ears are exposed to open air, even if you're listening to music or a show, external sounds can still reach you. You may notice that you bump up the phone or listening device's volume more than you would otherwise, just because you're attempting to block anything other than what you're purposefully listening to. Prolonged exposure to increased volume, being pumped directly into your ear, isn't good.

To soothe ears, instead select a fuller stereo headphone experience that surrounds the entire ear and will block other noise. You'll likely need less volume, which will be easier on your senses and protect your ears more than earbuds.

3.Supplement with Magnesium

Health supplements can enhance your health in numerous ways. Some studies suggest that magnesium, an element found in various foods and supplements, may benefit your ears and hearing as well as other body parts and systems. Supplementing with magnesium can preserve your hearing over time. You can use tablets or sublingual drops, but ask your personal doctor before you add something new to your health regiment.
